...WHAT A WEEK!!!...

Monday, August 27, 2012

HELLO my blogging pals!
Has it really been a whole week!?!
My life is in SUCH a whirlwind right now you have no idea!
Some days i make it home...and lay on my bed to relax and end up passing out for the night!!

I would like to share with you guys what i have been doing the past week...

Mr. Awesome came to see me!!!
Yes he came all the way from Texas for a whole week!
It was so nice to have him around the house.  He helped me do a few things i have been putting off doing
(girls you know what i am talking about! All those "Man" things that you just don't make time for...LoL)

photo shoot...after photo shoot...after photo shoot...
oh don't forget Fashion week practice AND a few modeling casting calls...
Yes..i ran myself into the ground this week with my modeling stuff! But it is over now for a few months! So now i can relax and patiently wait to get the images back from the photographers!

and last but not least....this is what i spent ALL of my free time doing this week...
STUDYING!

As some of you may know i was accepted into a pretty rigorous medical masters program.  We get to take a few medical school classes with some other course work and let me tell ya...it has been a great eye opener to me! I had no idea how crazy and hectic medical school was and i half only HALF the load of the actual medical students.
I have my first test this week so i put everything else to the side (that included this blog...sorry guys! I will get better now that i FINALLY figured out how to post scheduled blog entries! :-))

so yea...that has been my life!
And of course when Mr. Awesome is here i try to stay off my blog/Internet since it can consume a lot of my time.  We do not get to see each other very often so i try to make the time we are together all about Us :-)

Well i hope that you guys had a great week!
I just walked out of my first exam!!! I am not sure how well i did...but i should know in a few days!

Happy Monday and i hope you all had an amazing weekend!

It's FINALLY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!

What does this mean!?!
Well for me it mean My Love will FINALLY be in the same state as me in just a few hours :-)
He is flying in to be with me for a WHOLE WEEK and words can NOT express how excited i am to have him here with me!

No worries...i will be sure to give an update on his visit next week!

Ok so i broke the news to your guys a few days ago that i am going to be competing in a Bikini competition in October.

I have gotten a few questions about it...sooooo i decided to just do a 'Tell All" post about it :-)

What is a Bikini Competition?
A bikini competition is a health/fitness competition.  In a nut shell it is somewhat of a fitness pageant (with out the talent and Q&A parts)
What you do is you train for MONTHS (eating REALLY healthy and working out A LOT)
You get on stage (in a bikini) and they judge you on your physic.

They have other kinds of competitions like figure competition or fitness.  These are a lot harder to train for and you have to work hard to gain muscle as well as slim down.

I do not want to bulk up very much, i just want to be lean and tone so i chose to go with the bikini competition which is exactly the goal i was going for.
READ HERE for a little more info about it...

How are you training for the competition?
right now i eat 5-6 small meals a day.  They are all pre-weighed out and i eat a certain combination of foods to help me get the right about or protein while keeping my sugar and carbs levels low.  You guys may have seen my meal pics on Instagram.  I cook my meals usually on Sunday and keep them in the fridge so i just grab them at meal time.  I workout 5-6 days a week. i do 45-60 minutes of cardio plus weight training (only 4 days a week right now).

What kind of bikini do you wear for your competition?
here is an example of what i have to wear...

they have a lot of rules and regulations for the things you can and cannot wear on stage.  You can wear an "off the shelf" bikini but it does not show off your body the best way for judging.

Why would you ever want to do something like this?
I was asked to join a fitness promotional team earlier this year and we will get to promo at some of these fitness competitions.  I just got more and more interested in it and thought to myself "Why Not!?"
I have always eaten pretty healthy and worked out regularly.  But i knew i would have to dedicate more time and effort into getting ready for this competition.  I also met a girl in my area that started training for one around the time i was stating to train for mine so it was just a reassuring thing to push me to want to do it.
It is just one more thing to push me to work hard in the gym so that i can look and feel the way i want 2 :-)

Are your friends/family/boyfriend supportive?
YES all of them are very supportive.  Like i said i was always the healthy eater our of our group so my friends are use to my "healthy" ways.  Of course i get the random teasing but nothing that is extreme.  My boyfriend is very supportive and is even helping find the best suit for me for the competition.  My family is supportive but they live so far away they they can not actually be here for the competition.

What has been the hardest part of training for this competition?
the hardest part by far was getting use to the meal schedule!
I was always the kind of person to eat my 4 -5 meals a day but only when my body told me i was hungry.  It took me a few days to get use to the schedule and menu but after that it was OK.  I already was a gym rat so spending hours in the gym is nothing new to me. I did have to get use to MORE cardio which was hard at first but i have adjusted well to it.  The key is to change things up and have fun!

I hope that this has answered some questions that anyone may have had!
It is still so new to me and i am learning a lot.  But i will for sure keep you updates with my progress!

o wow...is it Wednesday ALREADY!?!

Well i know i have a few things planned for this week!!
(1) Classes started Monday!! Uhhhh ill get back to ya next week on how i really feel about classes..still 2 early to tell right now

(2) Saturday i have an AMAZING photo shoot planned! It is an all day shoot with some amazing models and photographers! I hope to share pictures soon!

(3) I get to do this amazing RUN...yea i am not into the whole zombie thing...but my good friend is and she really wanted me to do this with her so i am :-)

(4) MR. AWESOME is coming to see me!!!!! I get to pick him up from the airport on Saturday and he will be here a whole week!! I am BEYOND excited!! I have missed seeing him so we will for sure have a great time while he is visiting me in the Mid West :-)

If you guys do not already know...i have decided to enter into a Bikini competition that will be held in October!!
This has been a very interesting process for me so far.  I am very exited and i am learning so much!
My days a filled with me eating every few hours not to mention my 2-3 hour workout sessions 5-6 days a week.  It has been a very interesting lifestyle adjustment but i have been able to handle it so far. The worst part so far has been hanging out with my new class mates while they eat pizza and cookies...and i have to sit there and sip on my water and veggies.

It is HARD WORK but i am already starting to see the results of my diet and exercise!
I have always eaten healthy and exercised regularly....but this is a whole new ball game!
I have had some up days and some down days...but overall it has been fun and i hope to be ready for the competition in October!

So yes...if you see me out trying to sneak a bite of a doughnut or muffin...just slap it out of my hand! I promise i wont get mad at you! LoL

It is so exciting and scary all at the same time! I have always been so self conscious of my body...but becoming a model and training for this competition has allowed me to learn to love myself for me!  So it has been a new chapter to my life and so far it is going great :-)
I will for sure keep you guys updated with my progress!

Hope that you guys are having a great week! Off to my workout!

HAPPY THURSDAY!!
Ok sorry guys for being MIA for the past few days!!
I was traveling all weekend plus my ToDo list was a MILE long...
and when the end of the day rolled around I finally realized that i had not updated my blog in a few days!!
So Sorry guys :-)
I know that some of you look forward to the LoL Sundays and the other random things i post. so this is my promise to you! I will do better at making sure that i will provide smiles and giggles on those days you need them the most :-)

Well this week i HAD to do a TimeBomb Thursday! I have been making a list of so many things that bring back some good memories so i hope that some of you can relate to this post.

How many of you remember what this is...

Gak Slime from Nickelodeon

OMG OMG OMG OMG
I am not sure about you guys but i know i BEGGED AND BEGGED AND BEGGED my parents...grandparents...aunts...uncles...and even Santa for some of this stuff one year.
After many failed attempts i FINALLY got some!
And let me just say that my mom was terrified every time i took it out of the package.

For those of you who do not know let me give you the 411...
Gack is like slime...but not very thin.  It is actually pretty thick...and it smelled kinda funny...and yes i did the taste test and it was not very yummy....BUT it sure was fun to play with!
It was just a ball of thick...oooey....gooey....slime!
Yes i played with it for a few days and like with most popular toys it ended up in the back of my closet someplace. But hey! At least i did not get it stuck in the carpet or in my hair like some of my friends did! LoL

Ok...Ok...if you do not know about Gack i KNOW you will be able to relate to this...

Yup...the BARBIE Jeep!
This was by far one of the BEST xmas gifts "Santa" ever got for me.
Yes i was a daddys girl and i was the baby of the house for some time...so for a few of my younger years X-mas was pretty nice for me!
I rode this thing EVERYWHERE! I even remember my dad having to replace the battery a few times because of how much i used it!  I rode it pretty much until i out grew it.
Santa for sure got his money worth with this gift!
Well i hope that you guys have an amazing week!
I start classes again next week so wish me luck!
Its kinda a big deal because i get to take a few Med School classes to help fulfill my masters degree so yes i am freaking out just a tiny bit inside! So keep me in your thoughts :-)

Hump day is here again...
Have you ever wondered WHO came up with the phrase "Hump Day"...
...were they sitting in their kitchen drinking some coffee...reading the paper...and just decided..."Hmmm today is Wednesday.  I think i am going to call it Hump Day!"...LoL

Yea...i always have these kind of random questions floating around in my mind...
Oh Well! Happy Hump Day!! :-)

This is a pic of my fridge after i go shopping.  I use Sundays as my shop day and food prep day.
I cook ALL of my food for the week and it usually takes me about an hour and a half

I bake a package of chicken...cook a veggie mix...make some whole wheat pasta (or whole wheat rice depending on the week)...cut my fresh fruit...get my salad and the salad veggies cut...and i boil a dozen eggs (i got SO tired of eating scrambled eggs so i just eat the boiled eggs instead)

This is what i usually make but it differs from week to week.

After MANY attempts...i was finally able to paint my fingernails so they looked nice (and not like a 3 year old did them...LoL)  I never really painted my nails growing up. I was (and i still am) a tom boy...so i do it when i have time and i find a color i actually like

a new favorite snack/meal of mine... flour less protein pancakes!
They are SO yummy and they are light and i can make a batch and keep them around to snack on or have for breakfast if i wanted.

Look who go an IPad...for FREE!!
I start classes on the 13th and our school is trying an "Apple Initiative" program.
Our books, notes, lectures notes...everything class related will be digital this year.
and WE get to try it out to see how it goes.  I am very excited and i am still trying to figure out how to use the darn thing! Stupid apple products are like reading a foreign language for PC ppl!

as the school year is starting to approach consider donating school supplies to local schools and charities!
I know i have!

I am a BIG couponer and price matcher...so with the money i save on my groceries i will use it to buy school supplies to donate to local drives that are going on in my area. It is always nice to give back to a good cause!

Here is a pic of an average lunch for me. some baked chicken and a small salad with some veggies and water.  It was hard to get my portions right at first but i finally figured it out! and eating every few hours keeps me full so i do not get hungry at all during the day!

Had a GIRLS NIGHT with my sorority sister a few weeks ago! We went to happy hour at Drunken Fish which was a GREAT idea! Some great HEALTHY options for 1/2 the price!! Not to mention we saw The Dark Night after we ate...such a good movie...i think i am in love with Robin...LoL

hope you guys are having a good week!
Today is Wednesday so that means the weekend it right around the corner!
I know i am excited!! Going on another float trip!! Probably the last one for the year but we have a BIG group going and i got a new bikini! So excited :-)
Pictures to come soon!

As the summer is slowly coming to end i thought i would make a post that might be helpful to those new high school graduates out there! Some of the new High School graduates may be preparing to enter college in a matter of weeks...Entering college is a very exciting and new experience!
You will experience and learn so many things! It is the time to explore and have fun...BUT do not forget why you are at college...to LEARN!

When it comes to college it is wise to go into your freshman year with a few tips that may help you save a little bit of money!

For example...cherish your student ID...it not only allows you to check out books at the library or get into your recreational facility. At most schools you need it to swipe yourself in for meals!
Also...look into and join campus organizations you like! It is so important to get out and have fun and it is also a great way to meet new people! But most importantly shop around for your college text books! Doing so can save you HUNDREDS of dollars each semester.  Yes you have to get NEW text book for the new classes you take each semester!  When and if you can save money you should!

Today i will talk to you about how to save money on getting the text books you may need for your new college classes. One site that i have personally used and that i greatly enjoy is www.campusbookrentals.com . If you are not careful you can end up paying TWICE as much for all of your text books!  My first semester of college i tried to make things easy for me and use the on campus book store...little did i know that was going to cost me over $600 for 5 books! Yea my heart sank when i got to the register and saw the amount of these few books on the cash register.

www.campusbookrentals.com can help you cut those expenses by allowing you the chance to possible find your needed text books for 40-90% the price you can get them at your local book store! Oh and did i mention that you get FREE SHIPPING!?!? (and yes you get shipping paid for to send the book(s) back to them! another way to save money!)  Getting books from www.campusbookrentals.com allows you the change to rent your text books at a cheaper cost than it would cost you to purchase them at your local book store or even on some other online stores.

What is renting your text book?
When you traditionally get a book for your college class you have the option to purchase the book. When your classes or over you can either keep the book or sale it back to different book stores and try to get some money back for the books you purchases (BUT BE WARNED! You may not always be able to sale the book back so you are out a lot of money PLUS you are stuck with this book you will probably never use again :-/  ) .  With renting text books you pay a fraction of the cost for your book(s).  The only difference is that you can not keep the book at the end of the semester! You simply send it back to the company you got your book from.  If you can rent your books i would HIGHLY suggest this!  It will save you tons of money, and you do not get stuck with a ton of books at the end of each semester.  No you do not get any money back for your book if you choose to rent it. BUT the plus side is this:  If you need a science book that originally cost $250 at the book stores....you can rent it possibly for 40-90% of the retail price! If you purchase your book you pay the full $250 and when you sale it back at the end of the semester you may get 20-30% back...so in the end you will usually save more money renting it!

If you would like to see an example of some of the books www.campusbookrentals.com offers you can check out this link: http://www.campusbookrentals.com/textbook/Nutrition--Concepts-and-Controversies/Whitney-Ellie-and-Sizer-Frances-Sienkiewicz/BrooksCole/9780495390657

Here is also a search option you can try out if you already know some of the books you will need for your classes!

Rent Texbooks
and save up to 90%.

Being a graduate of undergraduate classes i wish someone would have told me some of the things i just told you above!  It would have been very helpful and it would have saved me TONS of money over the many semesters i was taking classes.

There are TONS of other tips i can share with you guys...if you want me to do another post on College Tips just let me know and i will be more than happy to create a few more helpful post that may help the parents or new college students out!

Hope you guys are having a great week!
