Well as Heart day is slowly creeping up on us (and when i say heart day i mean valentines day) It has made me think about all of the past...and most recent heart days.
Heart day should be celebrated...single...married...dating...no matter what "marital" status you have. This day is about love. not only for someone else but for yourself!
I know it took me a long time to develop and strengthen my own "self love". and when you are able to do that you do not worry so much about days like this coming up when you are "single".
Not to mention most guys hate this holiday (just another day to waste money buying flowers and candy) but it is more of a day of thanks. Buying flowers...candy...dinner...or what ever else you have planned to just say THANK YOU to that special person who stands by your side day after day.
The only real valentine i have had my whole life is...my father.
As a kid i would wake up on valentines day with a bear, some candy, and a card filled out by my dad. ask i have grown older and since i have moved away...he has not left these kid of surprises on my kitchen table...but he does manage to still make me feel like his little princess and expresses his love for me. And that is all i need. Now, when i do find a guy who shares those same feelings i am sure my dad will not like competing for heart day...LoL...but he does not have to worry about that for a while.
So as this heart day draws near try to think of it more as a day of appreciation. and if you are single, maybe take the day to love yourself. there is no one who will love you more than yourself...and if you are alone this is the perfect chance to spoil yourself with dinner...some wine...or a gift that you have been trying to find an excuse to buy. You have to build up your self love before you can let someone else love you.
